Plano,United States - October 11, 2022 /PressCable/ —
Brooks Eye Associates has announced that Connor Smith, M.D., will join their practice as a full-time glaucoma and cataract surgeon. Dr. Smith specializes in minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS), which further solidifies their reputation as a provider of high-quality ophthalmic care and ocular surgery in the area.
“We’re very excited to have Dr. Smith joining us,” said Dain Brooks, M.D., head doctor and owner of Brooks Eye Associates. “He has a wonderful manner, is family-oriented, and his extensive knowledge puts patients at ease! We’re constantly looking for exceptional people to bring our patients lifechanging eye care services, and Dr. Smith is an exceptional person to do that.”
Dr. Smith was born and raised in Fort Worth. After graduating from Baylor University magna cum laude, he went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. His desire to elevate the human aspect in healthcare led to his induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and his pursuit of a fellowship in cataract and glaucoma surgery at the Dean McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City, Okla.
“I’m thrilled to join this team and return to the area!” said Dr. Smith. “I always think about how I would want my own family to be treated. It informs every aspect of my care. I really focus on patient education and counseling on treatment options. And I especially want glaucoma patients to know I understand the vulnerability that comes with the disease.”
Brooks Eye Associates is delighted to add an expert like Dr. Smith who specializes in MIGS, which have a faster recovery time and fewer risks compared to other procedures for advanced glaucoma. Dr. Smith is also skilled in using advanced lasers to treat cataracts and glaucoma. Some of his other specialties include trabeculectomy, tube shunts, and combined cataract-glaucoma surgery.
Dr. Smith is fluent in English and medical Spanish and looks forward to serving the diverse community in this new role. Brooks Eye Associates is open and taking appointments for both new and existing patients in the Plano and Dallas areas.
