Formula 1 broadcasts on Apple TV now offer Dolby Atmos audio for US subscribers, beginning with the United States Grand Prix weekend on October 23. Apple and Dolby Laboratories announced the addition earlier in the month.

Apple describes the Grand Prix as the first Formula 1 race broadcast in Dolby Atmos. The company says the format surrounds viewers with commentary, team radio, engine noise and pit-lane sounds, alongside Dolby Vision visuals.

The opening practice session had finished by the time coverage of the audio rollout was published. The remaining weekend schedule is:

  • Practice 2: October 23 at 5 p.m. ET.
  • Practice 3: October 24 at 1:30 p.m. ET.
  • Qualifying: October 24 at 5 p.m. ET.
  • Race: October 25 at 4 p.m. ET.

Apple also plans to screen the race live at its Domain NORTHSIDE store in Austin, Texas. Separately, Apple Maps has added a detailed Circuit of The Americas map showing numbered turns, grandstands and 3D landmarks.
