Brian Thomas caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence as Jacksonville took a 7-0 first-quarter lead against the Colts in Week 8. The Jaguars scored on their first possession, with nearly 10 minutes elapsed in Jacksonville.

A Colts punt following their opening possession left the Jaguars backed up near their own end zone. Jacksonville then drove 98 yards, with Lawrence finding tight end Brenton Strange for a 46-yard gain, the drive's longest play.

Thomas entered the matchup without a catch in either of Jacksonville's previous two games. He had also been benched after halftime in Week 6. Before the Colts game, Jaguars head coach Liam Coen had expressed confidence in the receiver's ability to contribute.

Jacksonville also lost safety Eric Murray to an elbow injury. His return was listed as questionable.
