Giants running back Cam Skattebo is expected to resume a role in the backfield against Houston, coach John Harbaugh said on October 23, according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan. Harbaugh said Skattebo had practiced well ahead of the matchup.

Skattebo’s involvement dropped to six snaps with no touches in Week 6 following a key fumble during overtime in Week 5. He told Raanan he had reflected on his mistakes, worked to correct them in practice and focused on protecting the ball. He said he was prepared to contribute in whatever role he received.

Through the season so far, Skattebo has gained 294 yards on 81 carries, scoring one touchdown and averaging 3.6 yards per carry.

In the Giants’ 34-27 defeat against New Orleans, quarterback J.J. McCarthy was their leading rusher, gaining 26 yards from two attempts. Tyrone Tracy had 18 yards on six carries, while Devin Singletary gained 14 yards from four attempts. Najee Harris contributed four yards on two carries.
