Harrison Butker will keep his job as Kansas City’s kicker despite a late miss from 54 yards in a loss to the Broncos, coach Andy Reid told reporters. Reid said the Chiefs would not make a change at the position.

Explaining the attempt, Reid said Butker had been trying to prevent a block and sent the ball too far to the right. The unsuccessful field goal was one of seven kicks Butker has missed across seven games in 2026.

Justin Tucker, a former All-Pro, is still on Kansas City’s practice squad. Reid’s decision leaves Butker in the kicking role as the Chiefs prepare to host the Jets on Sunday. Kansas City has a 5-2 record, while the Jets are 2-6.
