Unranked Cincinnati handed No. 8 Texas Tech its first loss of the season, winning 37-24 at home. The Bearcats improved to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in Big 12 play, while the Red Raiders fell to 6-1 and 3-1.

Cole Tabb contributed 173 rushing yards and a touchdown, setting a career high for yardage. Quarterback JC French IV also reached a career milestone with four touchdown passes. Cincinnati finished with 252 rushing yards at 6.1 yards per carry after recording minus-six yards on the ground in the opening quarter.

The victory was Cincinnati's first at home against a top-10 opponent since its 30-11 win over No. 7 Rutgers on Nov. 18, 2006. The Bearcats also beat ninth-ranked Notre Dame on the road in 2021.

Fans entered the field after the game, potentially exposing Cincinnati to a fine. USA TODAY's Jordan Mendoza said the Big 12 reviews such incidents individually. He said the standard penalty is US$50,000, but officials review footage to assess whether the visiting team and game officials could leave safely.
