Indianapolis announced practice-squad deals for wide receiver Mecole Hardman and punter Thomas Morstead after an injury forced Rigoberto Sanchez out of its loss to Tennessee. Sanchez hurt his foot when a punt was blocked.

Morstead played all 17 games for San Francisco last season. He punted 44 times, with an average distance of 43.6 yards.

Hardman won three Super Bowls with the Chiefs and was most recently on Buffalo’s roster. The Bills released him during roster cuts in August. His playing time for Buffalo last season was limited to two games, in which he returned two punts and one kickoff.

The signings also come after Indianapolis fired general manager Chris Ballard. The Colts’ next matchup is a Week 7 visit to the Vikings.
