Dodge announces 2027 return to NASCAR Cup competition
An engine-building partnership with ECR accelerated the comeback, but no team has confirmed a Dodge deal for the 2027 season.

Dodge will end its absence from NASCAR’s top stock car racing division in 2027, bringing the Cup Series manufacturer count to four. The Associated Press reported that Dodge announced the decision in Las Vegas, Nevada, during the SEMA show.
The comeback will be Dodge’s first Cup campaign since 2012. Its work with engine-building partner ECR helped bring the return forward. The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi had earlier reported that a 2027 entry was being finalized, ahead of expectations by one season.
Kaulig Racing is considered the likeliest team to field Dodge entries, although no team has formally announced an agreement for 2027. Stellantis took an initial step toward a Cup comeback through RAM’s return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with Kaulig.
In Kaulig’s first season with RAM, all five of its trucks remain outside the top 10 in owners points.
Dodge’s previous Cup comeback came in 2001. Bill Elliott secured the Daytona 500 pole position that year.
