FIA selects AWS for AI and cloud partnership across motor sport
AWS will assist with technical rules for future Formula 1 cars as the agreement extends from club racing to the sport’s top level.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) will support rulemaking and digital services for the FIA under a partnership covering motor sport at every level. The global governing body selected AWS as its official partner across artificial intelligence, machine learning and cloud services.
Work on technical regulations for Formula 1’s next generation of cars forms part of the agreement. AWS will provide engineers with AI tools to assist in writing rules addressing sustainability, safety and speed.
Aerodynamic testing is already carried out using AWS computers, allowing FIA engineers to model airflow without making physical components. The FIA says this approach speeds up rulemaking, lowers costs and reduces its environmental impact.
Digital licensing is another part of the collaboration. AWS built and hosts the FIA’s Digital Licensing Platform, introduced in 2025, through which drivers, volunteers and officials can submit applications online. National sporting authorities manage licenses through the system.
As more authorities adopt the platform, it is adding language support, renewal functions and links with FIA University. Event management capabilities and further tools for volunteers and officials are planned. Additional FIA applications and hosted services will migrate to AWS in the coming years.
The FIA says the work supports its aim to double participation in motor sport. Through the FIA Global Partner Programme, AWS also becomes a partner of the FIA Awards and FIA Sustainable Innovation Series. This agreement is distinct from AWS’s cloud arrangement with Formula 1’s commercial rights holder, which dates to 2018.
