Villarreal defender Alex Freeman would be open to joining Manchester City in 2027, according to Football Insider, amid reported interest from the Premier League club in the 22-year-old United States international.

Freeman joined Villarreal in January and has since played 23 times for the Spanish side. The former Orlando City SC player has 26 international caps and a contract running until 2032. It is unclear whether Villarreal would consider offers for him.

City’s interest comes as manager Enzo Maresca has yet to establish a regular first-choice right-back. Matheus Nunes has started six matches across the Premier League and Champions League this season, while Abdukodir Khusanov and Rico Lewis provide other options in the position.

City remain Premier League leaders after a 1-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, their second successive league defeat. Their position could change depending on the result of Liverpool’s match against Arsenal.
