The Golden State Valkyries beat the Atlanta Dream to claim their first WNBA championship on October 31, 2026, winning the deciding game at San Francisco’s Chase Center. The title came in the Valkyries’ second season.

Atlanta lost 63-68 after the teams entered Game Seven level at 3-3 in the series. The championship remained undecided late in the contest, with the score tied and 2:30 remaining.

Gabby Williams received the Finals MVP award following a 30-point performance in the deciding game. She scored 28 of those points after halftime and made four 3-pointers.

Williams, a forward, joined Golden State earlier in the year under a multi-year contract. Her WNBA career began when the Chicago Sky drafted her in 2018. She moved to the Los Angeles Sparks through a trade in May 2021, then to the Seattle Storm in February 2022. She also represented France at the 2020 and 2024 Olympics.
