Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said the team would examine its offensive problems after a 22-6 defeat against the Chiefs, without confirming whether Mike McDaniel would remain the play caller. The Chargers did not score a touchdown and enter their bye having lost all six games since McDaniel took charge of the offense.

Asked whether McDaniel would call plays against the Rams in Week 8, Harbaugh said everything would be considered and the offense needed attention, according to comments reported by Noah Furtado of TheAthletic.com. He also expressed sympathy for the players, coaches and fans.

The Chargers have managed 84 points across those six defeats. Quarterback Justin Herbert threw his eighth interception against the Chiefs and has been intercepted in every game during that stretch. McDaniel was hired in the offseason to work with Herbert.

PFT reported increasing speculation about McDaniel’s departure. It said pass game specialist Adam Gase, previously the Jets’ head coach, was expected to assume responsibility for the offense if the Chargers made a change.
