Howe and Nagelsmann reportedly lead United's options to replace Carrick
Manchester United's 3-0 home defeat by Bournemouth extended their winless run to eight matches and left them 16th in the Premier League.

Manchester United executives Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada are expected to recommend that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe dismiss head coach Michael Carrick, Sky Sports News reported. Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann are reportedly the preferred replacements if United make a change.
Carrick's position has come under scrutiny after Bournemouth won 3-0 at Old Trafford. United have gone eight matches without a victory across all competitions and sit 16th in the Premier League. Captain Bruno Fernandes was left among the substitutes following his recent public comments about the team's tactics.
Both leading candidates are out of work. Howe departed Newcastle United in July to take a break, while Nagelsmann left the Germany job after their World Cup elimination by Paraguay over the summer. Neither appointment would require compensation, according to the reporting.
Wilcox is reportedly inclined toward someone with Premier League experience. Recruitment chief Christopher Vivell previously worked with Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig. United have also considered Unai Emery and Antonio Conte, although Emery remains committed to Aston Villa.
United's next Premier League match is away to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
