Joey Porter Jr. dismisses criticism after illness-related absence
The Dallas cornerback has given up one reception on nine targets across three games, with the catch gaining 5 yards.

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Joey Porter Jr. has brushed aside doubts about his commitment following a missed game because of illness, saying his work on the field will answer his critics.
In comments to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Porter said he largely ignores online criticism and concentrates on his job. He also said his performances were consistent with what he had shown over the past couple of years.
Porter made his Dallas debut three days after being traded by Pittsburgh, but an unexpected illness sidelined him the next week. On Amazon Prime Video, Richard Sherman suggested Porter might have been healthier had Dallas given him a new contract. The Cowboys have ruled out a new deal this season.
Through three games, opponents have targeted Porter nine times, completing one pass that gained 5 yards. Dallas traded two draft selections to the Steelers to acquire him: a sixth-rounder in 2027 and a second-rounder in 2028. Porter had been inactive for four Pittsburgh games with an intermittent back problem.
