Sandy Alcantara will remain with Miami for 2027 after the Marlins exercised a club option valued at US$21 million. The team announced the decision on October 30, 2026, keeping the 31-year-old pitcher under contract for another season.

Alcantara finished 2026 with a 13-11 record, posting a 3.87 ERA and recording 153 strikeouts over 214 innings. It was his second season back from Tommy John surgery.

His innings total topped the league and ranked second in his career. His highest total remains 228 and 2/3 innings in 2022, when he also led the league, earned All-Star honors and won the Cy Young award.

In 2026, Alcantara recorded a strikeout rate of 17.1%, a walk rate of 6.6% and a ground-ball rate of 41.9%. With the option exercised, he is due to enter unrestricted free agency after the 2027 season.
