Mets’ Francisco Lindor wins 2026 Roberto Clemente Award
Capital One is donating US$100,000 to the Seen Foundation in recognition of the shortstop’s community work.

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor has been selected as the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award recipient for his humanitarian work. The 32-year-old is scheduled to receive the honor at Tropicana Field before the Milwaukee Brewers face the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 3 of the World Series.
Lindor is the sixth Mets player to receive the award. He told reporters he considers it Major League Baseball’s most important honor and described Clemente as an idol during his childhood in Puerto Rico. He will wear a patch bearing Clemente’s number, 21, on his cap throughout the remainder of his career.
His charitable work includes supporting the Seen Foundation, which assists families whose children have physical disabilities. Capital One’s US$100,000 donation to the nonprofit recognizes Lindor’s selection.
According to MLB.com, Lindor also created a scholarship fund at Montverde Academy in Florida, where he attended school, for students unable to afford enrollment. He takes part in clinics with Special Olympics Florida and hosts baseball activities for youth leagues and Boys & Girls Clubs.
In Puerto Rico, Lindor provided financial assistance after Hurricanes Maria and Fiona, helped restore sports facilities in Caguas and supported recovery and environmental conservation projects. He said he hopes the award expands his ability to help people in Puerto Rico and encourages younger players to contribute to their communities.
