Miami takes No. 1 spot in both college football polls
The Hurricanes advanced from third after beating Florida State 43-35 in double overtime, as Georgia and Notre Dame lost.

Miami has returned to No. 1 nationally in college football, leading both the AFCA Coaches Poll and Associated Press Top 25. The Hurricanes last held the top ranking at the close of the 2002 regular season.
Coaches awarded Miami 1,791 points, and 50 of the 73 voters selected the Hurricanes as their No. 1 team. Ohio State ranked second on 1,725 points, drawing 13 votes for first. BYU followed in third on 1,698 points, with 10 voters choosing it for the top spot.
The AP rankings reversed the order of Miami's nearest challengers. Miami's tally was 1,697 points, including 40 votes for No. 1. BYU collected 1,675 points and 20 top selections; Ohio State had 1,649 points and nine. Notre Dame and Georgia occupied fourth and fifth, respectively.
Notre Dame's 28-24 loss to BYU came with a disputed ending: the Big 12 Conference said one second should have remained for another Notre Dame play at BYU's eight-yard line. Coaches dropped Notre Dame from second to eighth. Georgia slid three positions to fourth, while Texas Tech climbed four to fifth following its 53-25 victory over Arizona State.
Next for Miami is Pittsburgh, whose record stands at five wins and two losses after Boston College beat it 27-21. Miami also visits Notre Dame on November 7.
