Mourinho expects Alexander-Arnold and Dumfries to stay at Real Madrid
Valverde has been left out of the squad to face Racing Santander after muscular discomfort, opening a chance for the two specialist right-backs.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has played down the prospect of Trent Alexander-Arnold or Denzel Dumfries asking to leave after being overlooked in favor of Federico Valverde at right-back. He said both defenders had reacted positively when he explained his selection decisions.
At a press conference before the La Liga fixture against Racing Santander, Mourinho described the choice as a tactical measure rather than a judgment against either player. He wanted a more attacking full-back in Valverde while changing the midfield, although he acknowledged the discomfort of bypassing two specialists.
Alexander-Arnold's reduced playing time has drawn speculation about a Premier League return. Mourinho said he did not anticipate either defender requesting an exit, without offering a permanent starting role.
Valverde was subsequently excluded from Madrid's traveling squad following muscular discomfort after the 2-1 victory over Barcelona. Mourinho had already ruled out a start for the midfielder against Racing but has not named his replacement.
Madrid have recorded five straight wins in all competitions. Their schedule after Racing includes trips to AEK Athens in the Champions League and Valencia. Mourinho said the number of games, tiredness, suspensions and possible injuries would make rotation necessary and provide opportunities throughout the squad.
