Former Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III said he would be interested in becoming the university’s next head football coach following Dave Aranda’s dismissal. The Heisman Trophy winner discussed the vacancy on “The Dan Patrick Show” on October 26, 2026.

Griffin has no coaching experience but argued that Baylor needs people who understand how to win at the university. Baylor fired Aranda after nearly seven seasons in charge and has the rest of the season to search for a replacement.

Griffin also endorsed two current head coaches: Spencer Danielson of Boise State and Jeff Traylor of UTSA. Danielson has led Boise State since the 2023 season, compiling a 30-9 record and winning three straight Mountain West Championships.

Traylor has coached UTSA since the 2020 season and has a 60-27 record during his tenure.

Griffin additionally suggested USC head coach Lincoln Riley as a less obvious possibility. He said he believed Riley would be interested and characterized a potential switch to Baylor as beneficial to both sides.
