Nick Sirianni accepted responsibility for the Eagles’ struggles after a loss to the Commanders extended their losing streak to six games. The head coach said his own performance was not good enough and that fixing the problems was his responsibility.

The defeat left the Eagles at 2-6 following a 2-0 start to a season in which they had Super Bowl aspirations. Sirianni said accountability for that slide rested with him rather than his assistant coaches.

Asked whether offensive coordinator Sean Mannion would keep calling plays, Sirianni did not give a direct answer. He said he was not considering that question at the time, leaving Mannion’s play-calling status unaddressed.

Sirianni also said recurring problems with attention to detail meant he needed to change his approach to getting his message across. Expressing frustration with himself, he said he would try different methods and remained determined to get the team back on track.
