Utah holds off Colorado 27-24 for 12th straight victory
Colorado erased a 13-0 deficit but suffered its fourth consecutive loss, with the game ending on a Hail Mary attempt.

No. 11 Utah survived a second-half comeback by Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes, winning 27-24 to move to 6-0. Colorado still had an opportunity to win on the final play, but its Hail Mary attempt did not prevent a fourth straight defeat.
Trailing 13-0 after the first half, the Buffaloes moved ahead by scoring 17 points without reply in the third quarter. During Colorado’s late bid for victory, replay officials ruled that an attempted lateral was a forward pass, wiping out a long gain.
Sanders said afterward that he had told his players he was proud of their effort, according to USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer. He praised them for continuing to compete and giving themselves an opportunity to win.
Schrotenboer noted that the opponents responsible for Colorado’s four consecutive defeats had a combined 21-3 record. Utah’s winning streak reached 12 games, the longest active run nationally after Notre Dame’s 16-game streak ended.
Colorado is now 2-14 against Power Five opponents since the 2024 season ended. Sanders, who became head coach in 2023, has recorded victories over only two ranked opponents.
