Miami earned its first victory of the season on October 25, beating the Jets 28-25 at MetLife Stadium behind two touchdown passes and a rushing score from Malik Willis. His fourth-and-1 quarterback sneak with two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter helped secure the result.

The Dolphins built a 21-7 advantage during the first half, with Willis, running back Ollie Gordon and tight end Greg Dulcich driving the offense. A Geno Smith interception ended one Jets scoring opportunity.

New York fought back after Smith connected with rookie receiver Omar Cooper for a 60-yard gain, setting up a third-quarter touchdown pass to Cooper. The Jets later reached the Miami 1-yard line, but three consecutive plays lost yardage, leaving them to kick a field goal instead of drawing level at 21.

Willis then found rookie Caleb Douglas on a short throw that became a 63-yard touchdown. Tight end Mason Taylor's second touchdown reception brought New York within three points, but the Jets could not complete the comeback.

The defeat left Jets coach Aaron Glenn with an 0-8 record against divisional opponents since taking charge. New York next hosts the Raiders in Week 8, while Miami returns home to face the Patriots.
