Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield is expected back against the Panthers after a dislocated right thumb kept him out for three games. Head coach Todd Bowles said Mayfield was ready to return, but the team faces several other injury absences.

Mayfield had also said he was ready to play. He plans to use a glove to give his injured right hand additional protection when he returns to the lineup.

Receiver Emeka Egbuka resumed practicing after a concussion sidelined him for the first two practice days of the week. Despite that return, Bowles said Egbuka would carry a doubtful designation for the Panthers game.

Right tackle Luke Goedeke also took part in practice again, but Bowles ruled him out because of a calf injury. Safety Antoine Winfield will be unavailable as well, with a rib injury set to keep him sidelined for a third consecutive game.
