Kyle Shanahan has distanced himself from scheduled discussions involving 49ers officials, receiver Brandon Aiyuk and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Asked by reporters about the expected outcome, the coach said he had no knowledge of what the meeting would bring and considered it unrelated to his football team.

The talks are planned for the team’s business offices. Shanahan said he regarded the matter as long settled for the football team and would give it no attention during the season.

Aiyuk remains on the reserve/left squad list, where the 49ers placed him on Dec. 13, 2025. An Oct. 27 request by Rosenhaus seeking his reinstatement has not yet resulted in the NFL restoring his status.

The receiver’s most recent game was on Oct. 20, 2024, when he suffered tears to his right knee’s ACL and MCL. His relationship with the club deteriorated afterward. The 49ers canceled his guaranteed money because he was unwilling to undergo rehabilitation at their facility.
