Liverpool's Premier League meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield could be affected by Storm Boelo, with the Met Office warning of potentially severe gusts on Merseyside. Liverpool enter the weekend fifth in the table, while Brighton are third.

BBC Weather predicts winds between 53mph and 56mph during the two hours preceding the 2pm kickoff. The forecast shows winds easing as the afternoon progresses, although gusts above 40mph are expected until 7pm.

The Met Office said northern areas of the UK would experience strong winds and periods of heavy rain on Saturday afternoon. It forecast widespread gusts of 55-65 mph, with some exposed and coastal locations potentially reaching 70-80 mph or more. Scotland and England's far north were expected to experience the strongest gusts.

Manchester United's home match against Bournemouth appears less likely to be disrupted. At Old Trafford, gusts above 40mph are forecast only between 10am and 11am, with winds of 19mph predicted at the 2pm kickoff.
