Toney sets Miami receptions record as Hurricanes beat Pittsburgh 52-23
Malachi Toney caught three touchdown passes, matching his career best and a Miami single-game mark shared with five other players.

Malachi Toney caught 16 passes to establish a Miami single-game receptions record as the Hurricanes defeated Pittsburgh 52-23. He finished with 194 receiving yards and three touchdowns, surpassing the previous school mark of 13 catches.
The record had been shared by Toney, following his performance against Pittsburgh in 2025, and Mike Harley, who reached that total against Duke in 2021.
Toney did most of his damage before halftime, recording 12 catches, 159 yards and two touchdowns. His outing lasted just over three quarters: head coach Mario Cristobal withdrew Miami's first-team players during the fourth quarter when the Hurricanes held a 52-14 lead.
The performance brought Toney's season totals to 66 catches, 952 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. In 2025, he established Miami season records of 109 catches and 1,211 receiving yards across 16 games.
Toney also climbed to third on Miami's career receptions list with 175 and seventh in receiving yardage with 2,163. Xavier Restrepo holds both career records, with 200 catches and 2,844 yards.
