Jake Bates converted a 22-yard field goal as time expired to give Detroit a 20-17 victory over Green Bay on October 25, 2026. The winning possession covered 71 yards over 10 plays, with Jahmyr Gibbs kneeling at the Packers’ 3 to position the Lions for the kick.

Green Bay had an opportunity to take the lead after Keisean Nixon tackled Gibbs for a 2-yard loss on fourth-and-1 at Detroit’s own 24 with 4:53 remaining. The Packers advanced to the Detroit 17, but DJ Wonnum blocked Trey Smack’s 35-yard field-goal attempt with 3:21 left.

Smack had previously missed a 26-yard attempt before connecting from 43 yards with 7:10 remaining to make it 17-17. His blocked attempt was his second miss of the game and seventh of the season.

Detroit finished with 415 yards. Jared Goff completed 22-of-32 passes, throwing for 303 yards and two touchdowns, both to Jameson Williams. Williams totaled 91 yards on five receptions, while Amon-Ra St. Brown caught nine passes totaling 153 yards. Gibbs rushed for 116 yards on 29 carries but lost a fumble.

For Green Bay, Jordan Love completed 27-of-45 attempts, producing 274 yards and two touchdown passes. Brian Branch intercepted him in his return from the Achilles injury that ended his 2025 season. Packers linebacker Isaiah McDuffie recovered both of Detroit’s fumbles.
