The Chicago Bears signaled on November 6, 2026, that Illinois remains an option for their planned stadium, while saying work on a potential Indiana development is continuing. The team acknowledged discussions with Illinois leaders after previously describing Indiana as its sole focus.

In Hammond, Indiana, the Bears said they are working with state and local officials and finalizing due diligence details for two potential locations in the Wolf Lake area. The team's plans call for a stadium alongside a mixed-use district.

The Bears said recent engagement by Illinois leadership over possible legislation had given the club an opportunity to provide feedback. They expect further discussions with leaders in both states over the coming weeks and said they have an obligation to consider all available options.

The statement followed by eight days a report that an agreement on legislation to keep the Bears in Illinois was close. The club said its proposed development would draw global events and bring jobs and economic growth to Chicagoland.
