Crystal Palace seek first consecutive league wins over Newcastle since 1972
Palace are unbeaten in five home meetings with Newcastle but enter the Premier League fixture with only one victory in their last five matches across all competitions.

Crystal Palace can record successive league victories against Newcastle United for the first time since 1972 when the teams meet at Selhurst Park. Pierre Sage’s side won the previous home encounter 2-1, with Jean-Philippe Mateta scoring twice late in the game.
Palace approach the fixture in 14th place, two points clear of the relegation zone. They have lost four of their seven Premier League matches and conceded 17 goals, the highest total in the division. Their most recent league outing ended in a 5-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Their home record against Newcastle offers a contrast: Palace have collected two wins and three draws from the teams’ last five meetings at Selhurst Park. The club’s last sequence of consecutive league victories over Newcastle was a three-match run between August 1971 and September 1972.
Palace drew 2-2 away to 10-man Besiktas in the Europa League in their latest match. Sage told TNT Sports he was satisfied with the performance but said lapses in concentration had cost his team.
Mateta scored on his return to the side against Besiktas after missing more than a month at the start of the season. He has four goals from his last five appearances against Newcastle. Sage said the striker was not yet ready to complete 90 minutes.
Having beaten Nottingham Forest 3-1 in their previous home league match, Palace are also seeking successive Premier League home victories for the first time since April 2025.
