Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick said his teammates understood his comments after the loss to the Raiders and were not upset by them. With the team at 2-6, he said attention should be on beating Kansas City rather than debating his wording.

The dispute centered on whether Fitzpatrick had said “Jets being Jets” or “Jets beating Jets.” The team told reporters he used the latter phrase, describing mistakes that contributed to the defeat rather than suggesting that losing was inherent to the franchise.

Fitzpatrick declined to continue debating exactly what he had said. He said the players needed to identify what would help them win against Kansas City, with a victory taking the Jets to 3-6.
