Tuchel hopes to keep Barry with England amid Crystal Palace links
The England assistant is reportedly a contender to replace Pierre Sage, whose side have lost six of their opening nine Premier League games.

England manager Thomas Tuchel wants Anthony Barry to remain his assistant through at least the 2028 European Championship, despite reports linking the coach with a possible vacancy at Crystal Palace. Tuchel said he understood that Barry must also make his own career choices.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Tuchel described Barry as an important colleague who challenges him and improves his work. He said he was confident his assistant was happy with England and was not surprised by interest from elsewhere.
Barry, 40, is reportedly a leading candidate should Palace dismiss Pierre Sage. The club are in the Premier League relegation zone, having suffered six defeats in their opening nine matches and conceded a league-high 21 goals. Sage took over from Oliver Glasner in June.
Barry’s Football Association contract lasts until the conclusion of the European Championship in 2028, which England will co-host. Tuchel said there would also be room for him on his coaching staff beyond that tournament.
Although he has not managed a senior first team, Barry has assisted Tuchel at Chelsea, Bayern Munich and England. His international coaching experience also includes roles with the Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Portugal. Other names linked with Palace include Sean Dyche, Thomas Frank, Vitor Pereira and Rob Edwards.
