Brentford striker Igor Thiago faces a three-game suspension after referee Michael Oliver changed his yellow card to a straight red following a VAR review against Brighton & Hove Albion on November 8.

Thiago pushed Chema Andres in the face during an altercation at the Amex Stadium. Oliver reviewed the incident on the pitchside monitor and ruled that the push involved force. Brentford were already trailing 1-0 after Diego Gomez scored within 15 minutes.

The violent-conduct dismissal means Thiago is due to miss Everton on November 23, the trip to Manchester United on November 28 and Arsenal on December 2. A successful Brentford appeal could overturn the punishment.

The 25-year-old has two goals and two assists from 10 Premier League appearances this season. His absence leaves manager Keith Andrews without another striker while 19-year-old Kaye Furo recovers from a serious foot injury. Callum Wilson, 34, has appeared six times as a substitute in the league this season but has yet to start.
