The Commanders have placed wide receiver Terry McLaurin on injured reserve and promoted veteran receiver Van Jefferson from the practice squad to fill his roster spot, the team announced.

McLaurin tore his patellar tendon during the Week 6 defeat against the 49ers. The Commanders had already announced that his season was over, but he remained on the roster through their bye. His focus now shifts to returning in 2027.

Jefferson joins the active roster after making one appearance this season. The roster moves were announced as the Commanders resumed work following their bye.

The team also said defensive tackle Johnny Newton would resume practicing. Newton suffered a torn pectoral during the summer and was placed on injured reserve shortly before the regular season began.
