Jayden Daniels connected with Rachaad White for a 9-yard touchdown to bring the Washington Commanders within 23-17 of the 49ers, leaving 9:22 on the fourth-quarter clock. It was Daniels’ second touchdown pass as Washington cut into a deficit that had reached 23-3.

Two defensive penalties helped Washington on the 10-play, 80-yard touchdown drive. Renardo Green was penalized for illegal contact when a third-and-4 pass fell incomplete, and Osa Odighizuwa was flagged for roughing the passer.

Washington had gone into halftime trailing 20-3. After the gap widened in the third quarter, Daniels found Stefon Diggs for a 1-yard touchdown, leaving 15 seconds in that period.

The Commanders had run 25 plays for 145 yards in the second half, compared with 17 plays for 90 yards before halftime. Daniels’ passing line stood at 22-of-27, with 217 yards and two touchdowns.
