Harry Kane provided two assists in Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win at Mainz, helping Vincent Kompany’s team retain the Bundesliga lead on goal difference. Joshua Kimmich and Lennart Karl scored for the visitors at the MEWA Arena.

Kimmich opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a shot into the top corner after Kane supplied the ball. The England captain then created Karl’s goal in the 57th minute. Phillip Tietz reduced the deficit during stoppage time.

The assists brought Kane’s league total to eight, equaling his highest tally for a Bundesliga season. According to Opta, nobody has recorded more assists over the opening nine matchdays since its data collection began in 2004-05.

German media highlighted his creative contribution. BILD praised Kane’s work as a provider, while T-online pointed to his passing, vision and ability to change the direction of play. Kimmich also emphasized his teammate’s importance beyond scoring, noting that Kane had supplied an assist against Atletico Madrid.

Kane has gone four Bayern appearances without scoring but has 10 goals from 15 games across all competitions this season. The 33-year-old has extended his contract until 2029. Bayern’s next match is at home against Koln.
