Christian McCaffrey put San Francisco ahead 7-0 against Atlanta with a one-yard touchdown run on fourth down, finishing the 49ers’ opening possession.

With his team facing fourth-and-goal at the 1-yard line, coach Kyle Shanahan opted to leave the offense in place. McCaffrey took a handoff and jumped over the line to score.

The running back contributed on the ground and as a receiver during the 10-play possession. His four rushing attempts gained 29 yards, while he caught both passes thrown by Brock Purdy for another 40 yards.

San Francisco advanced 64 yards on the drive despite McCaffrey’s 69-yard contribution. A false-start penalty against Trent Williams cost the offense five yards.
