Tampa Bay kept its World Series hopes alive by scoring twice in the 12th inning to defeat Milwaukee 4-3 in Game 4 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Rays avoided elimination and will host Game 5.

Ben Williamson supplied the decisive single against Brewers pitcher Shane Drohan, sending the ball the opposite way past a Milwaukee defense using five infielders. His hit completed a comeback after the Brewers had moved ahead in the top half of the inning.

The teams entered extra innings level at 2-2. Milwaukee rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt broke that tie with a home run in the 12th, putting the Brewers ahead before Tampa Bay responded.

Junior Caminero reached base to open Tampa Bay’s half of the inning when Brewers third baseman Joey Ortiz committed an error. Singles from Liam Hicks and Jonny DeLuca followed, bringing the score to 3-3.

With no outs, Chandler Simpson attempted to bunt but missed and reached two strikes. He then switched to swinging and singled, setting up Williamson’s game-winning hit.
