Tatum scores 40 as Celtics beat Nets on overtime buzzer-beater
Tatum set career highs with 18 free throws made and 22 attempted as Boston extended its winning streak to three games.

Jayson Tatum hit the deciding basket as overtime expired, lifting the Boston Celtics past the Brooklyn Nets 125-124. His season-best 40 points helped Boston win while playing for the second consecutive night.
Much of Tatum's scoring came at the foul line, where he converted 18 of 22 attempts. Both figures were career highs. The performance also marked his second game this season with more than 35 points.
Boston has now won three consecutive games after losing its season opener to the Detroit Pistons. Across those three victories, Tatum has averaged 33 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while shooting 31.8% from three-point range.
The winning stretch followed a difficult opening game for Tatum. Against Detroit, he finished with 13 points and shot 6-of-23 from the field, missing all seven of his three-point attempts. His scoring average over the next three games has come despite continued difficulties from beyond the arc.
